NOTES CONCERNING UNCERTAIN or INCORRECT IDENTIFICATIONS/CLASSIFICATIONS in THE CATALOG BY Caldwell et al., 2009, AJ, 137, 94 (C09) To integrate the information from the C09 catalogue into the RBC while maintaining the homogeneity with previous versions, we had to adopt some criteria to deal with a number of different cases. In many cases further investigations were performed to check the results by C09. For sake of clarity we describe below all the adopted decisions and all the revisions of C09 results that were performed before inclusion in the RBC. ################################################################################ - In the RBC an object is classified as a confirmed GC only if (a) it is resolved into stars in high resolution images, (b) if it is extended and has a radial velocity in agreement with the systemic velocity of M31 (see Galleti et al. 2006, A&A, 456, 985). For this reason all the objects included in Tab.1 of C09 ("Cleaned Cluster Catalog") that are seen as "extended" in LGS images but lack any Vr estimate are included in the new version of the RBC as "candidate GCs" as they do not fulfil our requirements for being a "confirmed cluster". ################################################################################ - A careful inspection of coordinate lists and/or original finding charts lead us to uncover a considerable number of wrong identifications with RBC objects in the C09 catalogue. C09 added a final "x" to the names of objects whose identification was uncertain: in many cases we were able to safely identify the object or to establish beyond any reasonable doubt that the considered object has been identified by C09 for the first time, i.e it is a new candidate/cluster. All these cases are commented and listed below: Name in C09 Comment --------------------------------------------------------------------- B047D This is not B047D, it is B527 B086D This is not B086D, it is a new object named C002 DAO23 This is not DAO23, it is a new object named C003 V203 This is not V203, it is a new object named C004 SH20 This is not SH20, it is a new object named C005 SH21 This is not SH21, it is a new object named C006 SH24 This is not SH24, it is a new object named C007 V212 This is not V212, it is a new object named C008 B246D This is not B246D, it is a new object named C041 M075 This is not M075, it is a new object named C042 047Dx This is B047D 086Dx This is B086D DAO23x This is DAO23 B255Dx This is SK181B VB203x This is V203 432-000x This is B432 LGS04131.1_404612 This is a new object named C009 LGS04350.1_410223 This is a new object named C010 LGS04359.1_413843 This is a new object named C011 BH06x This is a new object named C012 B201Dx This is a new object named C013 G083x This is a new object named C014 028D-100x This is a new object named C015 B030Dx This is a new object named C016 041D-103x This is a new object named C017 BH14x This is a new object named C018 B044Dx This is a new object named C019 B072x This is a new object named C020 048D-000x This is a new object named C021 B095x This is a new object named C022 058D-000x This is a new object named C023 BH18x This is a new object named C024 B088Dx This is a new object named C025 BH25x This is a new object named C026 M003x This is a new object named C027 B202x This is a new object named C028 B108Dx This is a new object named C029 M020x This is a new object named C030 M028x This is a new object named C031 B259Dx This is a new object named C032 M085x This is a new object named C033 M083x This is a new object named C034 287-000x This is a new object named C035 325D-D095x This is a new object named C036 G099x This is a new object named C037 A0043281+410739 This is a new object named C038 B275x This is a new object named C039 A0046383+410729 This is a new object named C040 ################################################################################ - There are a few objects included in Tab.~1 of C09 ("Cleaned Cluster Catalog") that were classified as non-GC by other authors based on independent observations of similar discriminating power with respect to C09. In the RBC we classify these objects as "controversial" (flag=3), as more observations are needed to establish what is their real nature. The considered cases are listed below.
