The Museo della Specola is part of the Department of Astronomy and of the Athenaeum Museum System (SMA) of the University of Bologna.
It occupies the Specola, the astronomical tower  built in the beginning of 18th-century over Palazzo Poggi, the University palace (see
map).

A wide number of papers testify the link between the Museum, history of science scholars and the theaching of History of Astronomy at the University.
