Francesco Calura Title: Chemical abundances and cosmological simulations: how far from the truth? Abstract: In this talk I will present results from various studies carried on with fully cosmological simulations for discs and bulges, regarding chemical abundances in "stars" (more precisely, star particles in simulations) and gas in spiral galaxies. My talk will cover an analysis of the stellar metallicity distribution function in simulated Milky-Way-like galaxies and a comparison of metallicity gradients obtained with various suites of cosmological simulation codes. I will try and focus on the current limits of our instruments and discuss possible reasons for the discrepancies between the model results and what is observed in real galaxies
