The Piecewise Parabolic Method (PPM) developed by Colella and Woodward (1984) is one of most powerful tools to simulate the unsteady flows containing strong shocks in astrophysics, such as supernova explosions (Bedogni and Woodward (1990)). Details of the characteristics and the performance of PPM in comparison with Godunov's , Mc Cormack's and FCT's methods are presented and widely discussed by Woodward and Colella (1984).
