On the 19th of December 2013, the ESA Gaia satellite was launched from Europe's spaceport in Kourou and exactly 2 years ago, on the 14th of January 2014 it completed its insertion in the L2 orbit. The commissioning formally completed on the 18th of July 2014 and since then Gaia has been observing the whole sky in routine mode, down to mag ~20.7. In this talk I will present some updates on the Gaia status and the related CU5-DU13 activities (photometric processing - Instrument absolute response characterization: ground-based preparation) at OABo. 2016 is expected to be an intense year because the first intermediate data release is foreseen for next summer.
