I will describe the results of a long term survey program to observe Galactic polarization at cm wavelengths. The motivation of the survey is to understand the impact of Galactic polarized synchrotron radiation on observations of the CMB polarization and to study the Galactic magnetic field. In particular, I will report on the recently completed 2.3 GHz survey of the whole Southern Hemisphere, which led to the unexpected discovery of giant outflows from the Galactic Centre, the "radio footprint" of the gamma-ray bubbles discovered by the Fermi telescope"
