C-GOALS is the X-ray division of the GOALS project, a multi-wavelength survey of bright, IRAS selected galaxies with HST, Spitzer, GALEX and Chandra. The sample represents the most luminous infrared galaxies in the local universe. While the X-ray survey with Chandra is yet half-completed, I will present a brief overview of the project and preliminary X-ray results from the Chandra Cycle-8 observations of 26 galaxies, along with some well-known objects observed previously. These snap-shot X-ray observations provide the AGN detection rate, their obscuration property, imaging of starburst-driven galactic outflow and a measure of X-ray production efficiency at a given star formation rate for the local, infrared-selected objects. As a sub-product, the excellent imaging capability of Chandra resolved a few X-ray emitting individual star-clusters associated with some of the galaxies.
