We developed fast optical photometer RLFP (Rome-Loiano Fast Photometer) using commercial modules products by Hamamatsu, based on the technology of SiPM (Silicon Photon Multiplier): silicon photon detectors operating in Geiger regime with quenching control mechanism. Our prototype RLFP consists of three simultaneous measurement channels. We also developed a custom electronics chain based both on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and microprocessors to integrate within a window of scheduled duration the discriminated signal generated by each module. Early in the month of February of 2011 the Crab pulsar was observed by the RLFP with the Cassini telescope at Loiano Observatory (Bologna), obtaining both the power spectrum and the light curve.
