I will discuss recent results from studies of HI (and ionized gas) in
early-type galaxies.  In particular, I will first focus on the large-scale gas
structures found and the implication for the formation history of these
galaxies.  I will also show some preliminary results on the stellar population
in these objects.  In the second part, I will focus on the results on fast and
massive nuclear outflows and the implications that they may have for the
evolution of galaxies.
