I will present the emission-line fluxes and kinematics of 48 representative elliptical and lenticular galaxies obtained with the SAURON integral-field spectrograph. Hb, [OIII], and [NI] emission lines were measured using a new procedure that simultaneously fits both the stellar spectrum and the emission lines. Emission is detected in 75% of our sample galaxies, and comes in a variety of resolved spatial distributions, kinematic behaviours, and line-ratios. I will discuss the implications of these findings for our understanding of the origin and fate the ionised-gas, of the ionising mechanisms at work in early-type galaxies, and of the level of star formation in these systems.
