All the necessary information is provided in the VO-DAY web page: http://wwwas.oats.inaf.it/voday/Bologna.htm The workshop will start with an hour of introductory talks, taking you through the wonders of the VO world and will then proceed with the four science cases that we will be carrying out step-by-step all together. Unfortunatly we are not able to provid lunch and coffee for partecipants. You will need to install the software in advance *ON YOUR OWN LAPTOPS* and familiarise yourself with it, as there will be no set-up session because of lack of time. The software we will be using in the science cases will be mainly Aladin and the CDS services, TOPCAT and VOSpec (all links are provided in the web pages). There are also links to other VO tools and services, for those of you that will be interested in trying alternatives to the suggested science cases. The installation of the tools should be straight forward but in case of trouble just let Riccardo Smareglia (smaregli@oats.inaf.it) know. Note that some of the tools (e.g. VOSpec) only run as applet or webstart and they do not need downloading - simply launch them. Also DAME tool don't need any installation becouse is a web application. Please, in advance: a) remember to download the needed data ( http://wwwas.oats.inaf.it/voday/software.htm) b) to run the Use Case 3 you need to register to the DAME site http://pcdevauc.na.infn.it:9000/register/, The science cases are already available on the web pages. There are detailed step-by-step descriptions ofeverything we will be doing so you will not have to take notes during the workshop.
